Frequently asked questions
Is nest54 an alternative to Microsoft 365?
For many teams, yes: nest54 covers files, browser-based office, chat, video conferencing, calendars, Kanban boards and polls, and runs on servers in Germany. nest54 does not offer desktop office apps, hosted mailboxes or apps for iOS and Android; if you rely on these, you can keep Microsoft 365 and connect it to nest54.
Can I keep using Outlook and Microsoft 365 with nest54?
Yes. You connect your Microsoft account by signing in with Microsoft. You read and send email in nest54, and calendars and contacts are synced in both directions. The Microsoft integration is included from the Business plan.
Is Microsoft 365 data stored in Germany?
For eligible tenants in Germany, Microsoft stores Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams and Copilot content at rest in Germany when the in-country storage setting is on; for tenants created after 14 September 2026 it is off by default. Beyond that, the EU Data Boundary applies, with exceptions documented by Microsoft. nest54 runs office, video conferencing and speech recognition on servers in Germany.
